A Message from our Founder & Director, Terri Shanks.

Terri Shanks founder of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants

Welcome to the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants and thank you for taking the time to look through our website. I hope that you have found much of the information that you were looking for, however I appreciate that you may still have more questions and may wish to have a chat in further detail about the training and about working as a professional independent celebrant.

Being a celebrant truly is the most rewarding job in the world, it is something which I am passionate about and take great pride in the standards of my work both as a trainer and practicing celebrant. I have never stopped feeling excited about my work and helping others take their first steps towards this wonderful vocation; watching them flourish from fledglings to established successful celebrants.

After working for more than 15 years in the Funeral Profession myself I am reminded time and time again how precious life is and that tomorrow is not promised to anyone. For that reason I have decided to take my son out of school for a year and finally at the age of 47 (yikes) take a Gap Year to go travelling and see the world.

I will still be returning to the U.K. for all the courses which I am advertised to run, but in between times I will be travelling overseas (and also blogging about people we meet who are celebrating every day events and marking rites of passage with travel).

With time differences and several long flights, rail trips and sea crossings ahead it would be easier if you could initially contact me via Email or text/whatsapp message me on: 07964 285467 and I will respond to you as soon as I can. (I am hoping to still check my email daily and aim to respond to all messages where possible within 24 hrs).

I am of course also more than happy to still speak to you on the phone to discuss anything in further detail, but perhaps if you could be kind enough to email me first, we could arrange a mutually convenient time to talk.

With very best wishes

Terri x
