Thanks for a truly inspirational course, which I feel has provided me with excellent foundations upon which to build as a fledgling celebrant. Thank-you for sharing your wealth of experience with such generosity. Above all, thank-you for your absolute heartfelt commitment to providing a compassionate, professional, and totally person- centred service for bereaved people. Even the lonely departed, like the old lady whose funeral you conducted with only her solicitor present. It is this commitment that shone through everything you offered us on this course, and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a heart-centred approach to training. I really felt that you did your utmost to equip us all to the best of your ability. Preparing us to go out and do the job to the best of our ability. Thank you so much, I can’t imagine I could have found a better course.
As an adult education specialist with many years’ experience of curriculum development, programme management, and quality assurance in a university setting, I can absolutely recommend this as a superb course.

Terri makes everything easy to understand and enjoyable to learn, for such a potentially sad subject the training empowers one to go out there and create beautiful personal tributes for someone’s saddest moment in life.
I like the fact that the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants is all about the training and support of celebrants and less about making money! The forum is an invaluable support network for all celebrants regardless of their speciality.
Terri believes in quality and it shows in her training and the way she delivers it.

The Funeral Celebrancy course delivered by Terri Shanks was a wonderful and inspirational experience and exceeded all my expectations. Terri’s training, advice and support has given me a great grounding in the world of celebrancy and I look forward to treading down my new path and hopefully one that will help and support many others.

The whole three days exceeded my expectations in every way. Even somebody like myself with two years experience can learn so much. I loved the fact that Terri was prepared to share her material and her ideas and no doubt that is a great help to anyone starting out as a funeral celebrant.
I really enjoyed meeting new friends and will doubtless keep in contact so we can support each other. The celebrants forum is a brilliant idea too so we can all share experiences and ideas.

I attended Terri’s 3 day course 8 months ago now and found the training excellent value for money. Especially as other companies were charging somewhere in the region of £2000 for very similar training. Terri shared her knowledge and resources and gave me everything I needed to embark on a new career as a Celebrant. I have now conducted 50 funerals and am loving every aspect of the work. However I could have never have done it without Terri’s on-going support and friendship, the training does not come to a sudden end after 3 days. Terri has always been at the end of a phone or email with her advice and wisdom to answer all the little questions I have had along the way.

I wasn’t sure if Terri’s training would be sub-standard when I compared the price of her training to the cost of similar courses which were almost 3 times the price! How wrong I was, the training was EXCELLENT and gave me everything I need to start this new chapter of my life . I know I can now start my career as a celebrant with knowledge of the funeral industry in general, and with a real understanding of the emotions of bereaved families. I now know exactly what I can do to help them create a beautiful and uplifting service for their loved ones. Thank you Terri for sharing your knowledge and experience with such warmth and humour. I didn’t want the course to end, and I believe you and I will be friends for life.

This course provides a friendly, fun and safe environment to learn all aspects of the sensitive and rewarding role of a Funeral Celebrant. Terri shared her knowledge and vast experience willingly, with confidence and humour. The course is intensive training and you leave fully equipped to be an Independent Celebrant. Our group bonded immediately even though we all came from different backgrounds and also because of the intimacy of the work covered we are already supporting one another on the next step of our journey to become empathic and successful celebrants. So not only do you learn all the skills needed to embark on a new career – you gain friends to help you along the way!

This course offers a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn how to prepare and conduct an effective funeral service for the bereaved. It offers sound practical advice backed up by Terri’s wealth of experience.
I can whole heartedly recommend this course as a sound foundation for a career as an Independent Celebrant.

Having attended Terri’s course (with some insight into the funeral industry) I can say that the course has provided me with the confidence and motivation to sell myself as a funeral celebrant. With the new knowledge and materials acquired from this course, obviously combined with my previous experience and skills I am already in the process of setting up my funeral celebrant services. A funeral celebrant training course is a must for any inexperienced wannabe funeral celebrant. Terri’s course is good value for your money and will provide the necessary knowledge and material resources. You do however need to already have the passion, care and empathy as well as excellent presentation skills to follow through and be successful.

I thoroughly recommend taking the course in Funeral Celebrancy. Terri is an inspiring, experienced and dedicated celebrant and facilitator. The course surpassed all my expectations, the quality, presentation, and the sharing of such a wealth of experience really made for a life changing three days. I feel well equiped and supported to go forward into this work, and to help pave the way for a future for Celebrancy in this country that is known for its professionalism, integrity and community spirit . I am very proud to be a member of The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, and look forward to being a part of its continued success.

I found the course tiring but also exhilarating – loads of detail and information that made me ready to conduct my first ceremony.
I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to be a Funeral Celebrant – Terri is definitely the best Funeral Celebrant in the UK today.

I must say that I thought Terri was pretty amazing. I can’t think of anyone who feels so passionate about what they do, I said to Terri that I have never put anyone on a pedestal before now but she really is an inspiration. Terri came across as a true professional and I also liked her passion about promoting celebrancy and getting it regulated.

I attended the marriage and family celebrant training course run by Terri and found myself on the first all female session with a group of very different but all like minded lovely individuals. With Terri’s relaxed, friendly guidance we covered weddings, renewal of vows, baby naming ceremonies and the slighter more unusual divorce healing ceremony. What was particularly helpful for me was learning more about the construction of a ceremony and looking at example of rituals and symbolism – something which I hadn’t covered before as a registrar. Terri’s wealth of experience comes across and it really helps to know she has probably seen it all and can answer any questions that could come up. I would definitely recommend the course for anyone considering a celebrancy as a career and even if you aren’t you will have a lovely 2 days and meet some great people.

I attended the Marriage and Family Celebrancy training in Worthing and cannot rate this training highly enough. Terri is a lovely person, as well as being incredibly knowledgable about this industry. The group were a very friendly lot, all of whom I will continue to keep in touch with. I have decided that celebrancy is definately the career path for me, and will be attending the funeral celebrancy course later in the year. I feel that I have gained the skills I need to make people’s day a special one, and I would urge anyone who is considering this as a career to attend this course.

The course was perfectly communicated and presented. I enjoyed the interaction with Terri and the other group members and learnt a great deal that will hopefully help me build on my business. Everyone had a role to play and there was no where to hide! The venue was great with free parking and convenient to main routes.
Keep up the good work Terri!

Hi Terri, this is just to say thank you for a very exciting, life-changing two days training with you. I was impressed by so much of what I learned, as well as by the seemingly effortless way the training (and refreshments!) were organised.
What a lovely group of people!
I’m looking forward to moving forward into a much more meaningful phase in my life, and feel very proud to be a member of The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants.

Thank you very much for all you did to make the last two days such a pleasure. It was very informative and well presented, but for me the most important part was the fact that you shared your own experience in such an open and generous way.
I certainly intend on keeping in touch with such a great bunch of people.

The Wedding Celebrant training was a fascinating, and uplifting course. Terri held a very nourishing and encouraging space that reflected her passion, dedication and support to us all as a group and individually. I left the course feeling inspired and enthused, as well as practically well informed and prepared for a future in celebrancy. Terri offers excellent after course care, readily sharing her wisdom and experience with genuine understanding and compassion. I highly recommend this course.
